Colorfabb 3Dprinter filaments

3Design New Zealand have taken on a new product range of specialty filaments from Colorfabb. Colorfabb are industry leaders specialising in the field of additives and masterbatches for the plastic industry. Colorfabb have one of the best reputations in the industry for developing high quality 3d printing filament. There specialty range of 3Dprinting filaments give us the ability to 3d print with various materials on our desktop 3d printers. 3Design have been getting Many requests by 3Dprinter users for composite materials, so we sourced the best by colorfabb and now stock these materials, woodFill , bambooFill, bronzeFill , brassFill ,copperFill.

BRASSFILL

The material is still in beta, which means we’re still working on the formulation to get the best possible performance. Our current formulation is providing excellent results on 1.75mm direct drive printers, such as the Makerbot Replicator 2 and Prusa I3. The filament is slightly softer then bronzeFill and copperFill, users need to be careful with applying pressure onto the filament. We’ve found that 3D printers using a bowden tube set-up and 2.85mm filament gives the least reliable results. Users need to take extra care of not over stressing the filament, with pressure and retraction settings.

Like copperFill and bronzeFill the brassFill filament can be post processed. A unique quality of brassFill is the lovely golden shine it shows when polished to perfection
COPPERFILL

3D printing with metal on your own desktop 3D printer! This amazing one of a kind filament will allow you to print with actual copper at home.

*Experimental Material

*Testing showed reliable results using the all metal hot-ends, such as the E3D and the Makerbot Replicator 2 hotend. Hotends which use a teflon isolator coupler can generate adhesion to the copper filament possibly leading to clogs and is there for not recommended for novice users yet.

If you’re looking for something special in your filament portfolio then consider our woodFill filament. About 70% colorfabb PLA and 30% recycled woodfibres.

If you’re looking for something special in your filament portfolio then consider our bambooFill filament. About 80% colorfabb PLA and 20% recycled bamboofibres.

colorFabb is a young 3D printing plastic material manufacturer. The parent company, Helian Polymers, has been working with bio-plastic processing and colour mixing since 2011. The main focus of colorFabb is to provide plastic for the booming home/maker/business 3D printing industry.

Many people would link colorFabb and 3D printer manufacturer Ultimaker together — from observation they seem to go hand-in-hand but as far as I can tell this is historic and really only indicates that a need for high-quality filament was driven by the demand for high-quality 3D printers. When much of the 3D printing world was struggling with low quality product, some companies decided to actually manufacture product themselves rather than re-sell other materials they could not control.
