Twitter what an awesome tool for promoting your business I'm just learning about all this type of stuff but it's something that has a lot of depth and doesn't have to be to time consuming. I do all the the social media marketing for our company 3design, it's good fun but I think I'm getting addicted to it lol, There is so much to learn and I'm just scratching the surface, twitter is a great way to connect to people who have the same interests for us its 3dprinting, we love it! There are millions of like minded people out there who have a common interest so why not connect and share information? 3D print with us

Over the past two years we have developed our 3d printing studio and systems, selling desk top 3dprinters to consumers was our main focus in the early stages of our business but the services and design soon become a big part of what we offer as whole. here are some examples of what we have achieved this year.

Jacks Machinery Owner, Steve Jacks tendered 3Design Ltd. to reproduce a bearing case from a piece of

farming equipment. The farming manufacturer's only replacement option was to purchase a multiple component encasing in which costs were running around $3500 dollars.Since the only part to wear and brake was the bearing casing, Steve was looking for an alternative to reduce costs. 3Design Ltd. drafted up the model using a used broken portion of the casing and printed the design for testing purposes. After a few revisions, we were able to produce the part for under $50, saving Jack’s Machinery thousands.

Printstock Gear set

Determined to turn an older printing machine into a newer metric setup. Our client approached us

to replicated and modify the gear set for timing the print cycle. These are now being printed on the

Mankati Fullscale XT Plus in PLA and are producing accurate results, withstanding the necessary

loading. A perfect example of minimising costs and time of by using 3D printing technology.

Usabus

Bracket.Old buses usually have many parts that have become obsolete or hard to get. This particular item breaks regularly and is hard get. With reverse engineering using our Next Engine 3D scanner we

were able to replicated the bracket and print it. With the digital file readily at hand there is no need

to carry spares. Simply press print when the need arises.

Tattoo Machines

This has been a labour of love for a local tattoo machine manufacturer. We embarked on this

journey with him to create a new look machine with amazing adaptability in a very close knit

community of tattoo artists. With every millimetre being precious we were able to create a great

looking machine with the functionality of high end machines. With great balance and size this will

rival some of the smallest light weight machines available. This has been printed in titanium to

reduce weight speed up development time and reduce the cost of small run CNC. More detail can’t be revealed due to manor in which this performs and launch being close at hand. But watch this space.

	Robert Reid - Managing Director has responsibilities as a director, decision maker, leader, manager and executor. The communicator role can involve the press and the rest of the outside world, as well as the organization's management and employees; the decision-making role involves high-level decisions about policy and strategy. As a leader of the company, advises the board of directors, motivates employees, and drives change within the organization. Robert’s experience lies mainly in sales, marketing and business development. He has been in business for six years and previously held a position as a sales manager. Building online sales platforms is where Robert’s passion lies and he also specializes in creating brands and sourcing quality products to take to the market. He enjoys getting involved with his creative team, strategizing and coming up with new and innovative customer service solutions. 3Design’s mission from the start has always been to create the best buying experience for our customers. 	Chad Vorwerk - Technical Director is responsible for the successful creation and delivery of the company's product to the marketplace by managing technical risks and opportunities; making key software design and implementation decisions with the development teams, scheduling of tasks including tracking dependencies, managing change requests, and guaranteeing quality of deliveries and educating the team on technical best practices. Having studied mechanical engineering at A.U.T. University Chad embarked on a 12 year journey gaining experience in design manufacture of heavy fabrication machinery. He acquired skills in AutoCAD and Inventor by providing high detail fabrication drawings and manufacturing solutions. This experience has aided his growth and drive for 3D printing and modelling. Chad is passionate about product design and development and is always finding the right solutions for our customers. At 3Design we immediately recognised the necessity for growing not only the products available but the knowledge and education required for an industry we want to see thrive. 	Stu Davies - 3D Printing Specialist develop primary sketches and models for final selection of product designs and review 3D designs and provide recommendations. Select materials, engineering standards, and generic parts for 3D product designs and present designs to clients and internal teams clearly. Stu has been in the 3D printing industry for over 8 years. He’s been involved in numerous projects in a variety of disciplines including architecture, satellite imaging, oil and gas, engineering, product design, industrial design, medical, arts and education. With this array of knowledge, he’s been able to acquire a range of skill sets from consultation to CAD modelling to production runs that give his clientele a complete package.  Originally from Canada, Stu has settled in New Zealand to promote the 3D printing explosion. 	Harley Wise - 3D Printing Assistant maintains 3D printing operations by receiving and distributing communications, maintaining supplies and equipment, picking-up and delivering items. Additional responsibilities include coordinating the submission of proposals, planning meetings, tracking sales progress and troubleshooting minor technical problems. Harley has been part of Robert’s team for over two years, working within multiple different web based businesses with 3Design being the latest. He is new to the 3D printing and design industry, but is quickly learning the ropes. His main roles are running and servicing printers, looking after the website, processing, packaging and sending orders and customer service. 	Devin George - Technical Engineer has responsibilities build or set up equipment, conduct experiments, and collect data and calculate results, work in quality control, where check products, do tests, and collect data. Also responsible for designing, testing, and repairing a wide variety of electronics, computers and 3D printers. Devin is a resourceful, motivated and experienced ICT Computer Support Technician with over nine years of experience in the industry. He helps with maintaining, troubleshooting and updating the 3Design website. Originally from India, Devin has been in New Zealand for almost two years and worked for almost a year sharing his knowledge within the IT and Electronics field. Devin also plays a big part in the maintenance, servicing and upgrading of our 3D printers alongside Chad and Harley. Who is using 3Dprinting?

Professionals use 3Dprinting as part of their work. They're the largest group, accounting for more than a third of the respondents. Predominantly they design their own models and a whopping 57% of them are either (product) Designers or Engineers. Prototyping is the most common use case with 85% share, but 32% of them have used 3Dprinting for research and 18% for the production of end products.

Makers are defined as those who use 3Dprinting for personal projects but design their own models. Tied with professionals they are also the largest group with 34.9% share of the respondents. Use cases are mostly related to their hobbies or gadgets they use and a technical background is quite common.

Pioneers are mostly new to the 3Dprinting world. They 3Dprint for personal projects and as they lack design skills in most cases acquire designs from content platforms. They represented 21.7% of the interviewees.

Students / Researchers are closely related to Professionals but they use 3Dprinting as part of their education or for research, making up 8.5% of the respondents. 74% of students use 3Dprinting for their course projects but over a third of them 3D print personal projects as well.
